We stopped in while visiting Grand Forks. We ordered the picnic meal with beef brisket, Mac & Cheese and green beans. The service was quick. The beef was a little cold and dry but not so much that it took away from the meal. Let's be honest - this is Grand Forks, not Tennessee or Texas BBQ. The staff was really friendly when we walked in and accommodating. Minus one star because they were out of rolls and minus one star because they had a few empty tables that were dirty.

Dammit, Yelp. This is not a restaurant. A restaurant is a place where you sit, and a waiter comes over and takes your order, and you do not get up. Dickey's is a fast food joint. You walk up to the register, order your food, get your own condiments, and then you sit down. The food is disgusting. They were out of chicken. The meat is tender but completely lacking in flavor and the sauces weren't great enough to make up for that. The baked beans were absolutely awful and a little watery. The fried okra was pretty good and the sweet tea is on point. The "roll," which, being served with a plate of meat you might expect to be able to make a sandwich out of, was about 2 inches square and some of the worst bread I've ever tasted in my life, and let me tell ya I love bread. They have free soft serve ice cream, which is nice for the kids.

No surprise but this place called a "restaurant" is now closed and has "merged" with their fargo restaurant. In the GF Herald some reports were that they couldn't keep employees or they wouldn't show up. Another sub par restaurant gone thanks!!

A moment of silence for the poor pig who gave it's life to be turned into this food. Porky, may you rest in peace. Next time I hope you end up at a worthy barbecue joint. AKA - Absolutely horrible.

Great food, slow service. There were four of us eating and after the first person ordered the last person got their food almost a half an hour later. Not acceptable.

Food tasted great! However the service was slow. I ordered the days special plus 2lb's of sliced brisket to go. After I ate the plate. I still had to ask for my to go order. It still took over 15 minutes to get it. Then when I opened it up later to make a sandwich there was 6 1/2 in slabs of meet. and a lot of fat. they lost me as a customer.

I know grand forks is not known for its bbq, and thanks to dickies I am sure it won't be. The food was cold, I had a brisket and sausage sandwich, good thing they had the sauce in dispensers because the brisket was so dry it wasn't going to make it down without any help and it needed lots of it. To add insult to injury it was also cold in the restaurant, the thermostat on the wall was at 55. Disapointed and will not be back.

In Grand Forks on business from Texas, and I was wanting some bbq. Very glad I found a Dickey's! Employees were friendly and fast, the place was very clean and well organized, too. The ribs were awesome, along with the sausage, and the baked potato casserole. Definitely worth visiting!

Having eaten at Dickey's a few times now, I'm confident when I say this place should be better. The prices just aren't that great for what you are getting and the food is really not all the mind-blowing. I realize that BBQ is a subjective experience. What some like, others dislike (for an example simply talk about TX BBQ versus Carolina BBQ with a few natives from each state...I'd suggest running away quickly). Overall, it seems that the meat here lacks that truely smokey flavor that comes through from the low and slow cooking this type of cuisine requires. Everytime I've eaten here, the meat's just been plain old dried out. And maybe I'm in the minority, but BBQ shouldn't be that way. I shouldn't have to slather it in their sauce to make it good (their sauce by the way, very average). I'm still on the lookout for a great BBQ joint in the Forks. Perhaps someone will take up the challenge someday.

Very very very upset when we TRIED to eat at Dickey's this weekend. We came through the drive through at 11:10AM, because they supposedly opened at 11AM according to the website and the front door (we checked) but according to the girl inside they didn't open for "another 10 minutes" and refused us service. Needless to say we were hungry and very unhappy, that they service was obviously unprepared to start their morning.

The Store that Dickey's sits in used to be a hardies, then it was a mexican restaurant. Now it's a BBQ place. They made the inside kind of seem like a "road house", I guess, but I know it's not, because I remember it being a hardies and mexican restaurant. Not the point. I had the two meat plate, ribs and sliced brisket. The meat is moist and pleasant, in my opinion they could use a little more rub. The smoke flavor is subtle. They say they smoke it over night, I was looking for and smelling for wood, or a chimney or a smoker or something, I'll keep looking. There is a smokeness to the meat, but it's pretty subtle. The hot sauce is hot with out being too hot and it's on the vinegary side, so it's got a nice zing to it. It's pretty great. The sweet sauce is sweet with out being overly thick. Also pretty great. The Ribs where very good. The beans where on the spicey side too which was a nice surprise, I liked them. The coleslaw was exactly what you expect from coleslaw. I'm going to go back again and see how everything else is. But Right now, I'm pretty full and happy. Much happier an fuller than I was when it was a hardies. I didn't really like the mexican place that much either.

Who doesn't love free ice cream or free pickles? I've been to one other Dickey's near my home town so, I had pretty consistent experiences there. I really like the Smokehouse salad as long as I can control the ranch dressing. I add their sweet BBQ sauce before dressing it with ranch. At the GF location, the sauce is kept warm which was different and since I wasn't going for wilted lettuce, I can't say that I was thrilled. I think on warm meat, it would be great, though! However, I was pretty displeased with the taste of the food at the Grand Forks location. The brisket was overly buttery flavored -- something I've never experienced before. The ice cream was more like ice milk. Nevertheless, my son's "stuffed baker" was enormous and he reported that it was great! I did like their onion tanglers on my salad. What I don't enjoy at all at Dickey's is the slow ordering process and the waiting for the food to be prepped. I appreciate that Dickey's can't give away money but hearing about how much the portion I am being provided weighs by an angry line worker is not my favorite. There was an incredibly snarky and obviously angry guy working the line and I felt sorry for his female coworkers who were treated less than adequately by this jerk. His behavior really set a bad tone from the moment I encountered him (he was berating a coworker for a previous order). I was excited that there was a Dickey's in Grand Forks -- I will likely give them one more try -- if it isn't markedly better, I'll wait until I go home to visit Dickey's again. Good Luck, guys.

Nothing special. It's a good place and the food is pretty good. I wouldn't expect it to be like a palace of bbq but it was tasty and the prices were fair. I would for sure eat here again.

Very disappointed, the food was mehhh and was pricy. The cooks weren't very sanitary either. They were constantly touching their faces.
